We at Alida Ivanov thought it would be a bore to close down completely over the summer, so now during July we are happy to present Iris Smeds’ Mental Event Tour- The Show, as the gallery’s first summer exhibition.

June 9-15 2010 Iris Smeds participated in the project Friend Ship, a boat that crossed the Baltic Sea with performance artists from Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden and Denmark. During the turn of the journey they stopped in every artists’ country where they organised performances. On the boat trip Smeds interviewed the artists about how they view art and its economical value, their own careers and themselves as  possible commodities. When the boat arrived in Stockholm Iris Smeds performed at Alida Ivanov Gallery where she presented the participating artists as investment objects. The exhibition Mental Event Tour- The Show is a compilation of the inteviews and also a documentation of Smeds’ performance.
